About

At its heart, Shinali’s work is a visual love letter to India, its vast landscapes, vibrant streets, and profound chaos & complexity. From lush greens to the kaleidoscopic bustle of everyday bazaars, the inspiration is deeply rooted in the beauty, rhythm, and pulse of this extraordinary land.
Shinali Jain (b.1993) is a visual artist interested in the exploration of the inner world of emotions, memories, and impressions that exist beneath the surface. Her work navigates the subconscious mind, allowing feelings and fragments to emerge organically. The creations often feel as though they arrive from another world, alien, unfamiliar, yet deeply intimate, originating from her hidden inner landscapes.
Shinali’s practice is that of a wanderer, a collector. She finds Inspiration in the mundane rhythms of daily life. It is within ordinary moments that the most compelling subject matter reveals itself, resurfacing later in unexpected ways through her work. The environment plays a vital role in shaping this visual language. Colours, patterns, sounds, and textures are absorbed subconsciously, gently stimulating the mind. From this flow emerges a unique visual language expression drawn not from conscious intention, but from a deeper, quieter place that resurfaces later in unexpected ways.
Photography allows fleeting moments to be distilled into lasting impressions, while the drawings bring a wider artistic practice transforming the lived experiences into evocative expressions of colour and form. Whether wandering through ancient ruins or encountering the quiet poetry of distant landscapes, shinali is drawn to spaces where history, art, and unspoken stories intersect.
The visuals represent a stranger world, an inner terrain almost untouched by the outer layers of perception. The journeys through her practise are into deeper realms of her subconscious mind, where feelings grow in dark silence, like new buds sprouting into poetic dreams. Colours blend and merge, creating harmonies that quietly unsettle and fascinate the observer.
With a background in journalism and mass communication, storytelling shaped her ways of seeing both visually and conceptually. Since 2016, Shinali has embraced her true calling, embarking on a journey of self-discovery and creative evolution by practicing art full-time. As a self-made artist, she continues to push the boundaries of abstraction, using colour, texture, and forms to evoke emotions and Narration.
Through art, she feels she transcends time and space.
Words can wait.
They arrive only after experience has taken form.
